Why can’t the clinic use medication that I bring with me?

Edited

Once a medication leaves the pharmacy supply chain and is transported by a patient, the clinic cannot verify how it has been stored or handled.

This means the dermatologist cannot confirm:

  • whether the medication has been stored at the correct temperature

  • whether the packaging has remained sterile

  • whether the medication has been previously opened or tampered with

Because the treating dermatologist is responsible for the safety of the treatment, medications used during procedures must come from a controlled and verifiable supply.
